I need some one to answer a question for me. Is it normal to have carbon deposit build up on the part of the intake valve thats up inside of the head. I took my intake off and looked down inside the head and it looks like what the exhaust valves would look like. Also the intake manifold runners are some what black. I can't see as to how this is normal. If it's not, what's wrong and how do I fix it.

    Thanks Rick

I don't know if that's normal or not, but anytime I took mine apart, the intakes were all carboned up too.:bglasses:

I've seen the same thing. Some of the exhaust does get back into the intake and it must deposit carbon on the valve and runners. I remember an old thread where parts of a broken valve seat ended up in a few cylinders via the intake manifold.
