I'm looking for a intake for the '66 nailhead with Quadrajet. Now I have contact with a guy with a number of intakes for Riviera '66 but he's not sure if they will fit a quadra? Does anybody have a clue about the numbers on the intakes, if they can be decoded? One of the has for example 1872118 stamped on it.

I found this site: http://www.buicks.net/shop/reference/nailhead_casting_numbers.html It doesn't have the number he gave me so I guess it would be a 1375118 instead. But it doesn't say wich carb is for wich casting. Are the AFB intakes different from the Quadra intakes? I have a strong feeling this was the case.
Yes, the intakes are much different. If the intake has the larger secondary bores then its for the QJ. Just ask him if the holes on the carb flange has four equal size holes or two small ones and two much larger rear ones.

Yes, the 401 and 425 intakes are the same. The QJ's are the same between both engines, but the metering (jets/rods) would be unique to each engine.
