Hello all:grin: So finally getting down to the intake exchange on my 350..... Took the stock 2bbl intake off yesterday and now have a question that needs answering. There was no intake manifold gaskets, just the part from the valley pan that is between the manifold and heads. Is this considered the intake gaskets or are there suppose to be actual gaskets Thanks in advance Drew
Drew, Yes that is the gasket, one piece, all metal, combo valley pan/gasket. Some guys reuse them after cleaning them. A little copper coat or spray tack around the ports on both sides, RTV around the coolant passages, both sides, and a little RTV at the corner of each rubber end seal, then torque it down and you are good to go.
rubber end seals Does anyone know if the rubber end seals are still available for the 350? I was de-gruking mine and one cracked. Not too soft anymore.
again, valley pan kit. 15 bucks from fel-pro, and in stock locally, usually. comes with rtv and end rails.
instead of the rubber gaskets at both ends of the intake , i used rv silicone . in my engine gasket kit , there was a tube of rtv silicone as well as the rubber .
David is correct...each valley pan gasket kit has the end rail rubbers in it as well as a little tube of RTV sealant. I bought another tube since I didnt think that little one was enough. While you're at it, buy a new thermostat and all new vacuum hoses....cooling, heater hoses, too.
I used the rubber seals at the ends of the intake with my swap. there woulda been a gap over1/8" at either end. to me thats too thick to use RTV for. I did put a small layer of rtv under the rubber seal though and at the edges where it butts up to the heads and block. Nate
