in florida for a 17 year old that just got his license how bad would a 71-3 riviera be on insurance...?? its gota v8 and all but its huge and heavy and i guess not that fast because of that, and originally wasnt intended to be a muscle car(right?) so how bad is it gona be?
Let your fingers do the walking ... One call would do it all !:Smarty: Being 17 would be higher than if you were older but call around you may be surprised ! Good Luck to ya . :TU:
Insurance should be pretty low. I have full coverage on the GS that I drive daily and it only runs about $100 a month. Not bad considering what it is, and what you would pay on a newer car. Motor size is not taken into consideration with the policies, 455s and 350s all go under the "V8" heading... with State Farm anyway. If you are primary driver on the car, and only opt for liability I would speculate that it wouldn't be any more than $50-75 a month depending on tickets and such. Full coverage I imagine would be more around $100-120/mo.
I have "Antique" insurance on my 72 as it only gets driven less than 1000 miles a year. I know this doesn't apply to everyone. My insurance costs a whopping $152 a year. Full coverage, 100/300, $250 deductible. John
Insurance is rated for price state by state. There are too many variables, including age, amount of coverage , what is covered, driving record, etc. for anyone here to know the real answer unless they are in that business in Fla. Getting some quotes there is the only way to discover the anwer to your question.
Since you are a minor (age 17) not many, if any, companies will even quote you. You are probably stuck with your parents company until you are at least 18 and/or you leave home whichever is LATER. I'm in the business (insurance) and can say, at least in Ohio, your rate would not surcharged for a 73 Riv, but you probably won't find a standard carrier to write you full coverage on the car at your age. Car's too old and you're too young. I did a quick quote on you...in my territory of Ohio your rate would be about $110/month. If you moved to a major city (I used Columbus), the rate is $155/month. Cleveland is MUCH higher, FYI. This is without considering factors such as auto/home discount, good driver discount, good student discount (above a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale). With all the discounts available, your rate in my territory would be $69 per month. Good grades and a good driving record make a HUGE difference! The above is for $100000/300000 Bodily Injury, $100000 Property Damage, $5000 Medical Payments and $100000/300000 Uninsured Motorists. No Comprehensive or Collision coverage on the car.
thanks for the quick replies... yeah i guess ill stay with state farm for now untill i move out or something..., and i checked some sites and alot of people wont even give you a quote because of the cars age... thanks for your time!!!
I feel ya. Im 17 also and im in TEXAS. I just got my car(65 buick skylark GS) Im worried about my insurance
Come on up to Canada. In my province I think we have the lowest rates anywhere. 76 and older Riv-$411.00 per YEAR! 65 Lark- $361.00 per YEAR! 200,000 Liability, No Fault Injury, Collision, $700.00 Deductable. We don't discriminate based on age. BUT.......Make a few claims and get a few tickets..........then you pay. Coverage can be increased with a package policy......Claims free discount, 1 Million Liability, $200.00 Deductable- About another $200.00 per year.
You guys got it cheap. Here in Connecticut I was paying 183 for basic coverage on my 77 dodge aspen when I was 16-18. That was with no claims or anything in my household. Right now I pay $150 a month for the buick and the 94 town car, just liabilty (100/300), medical and unisured motorist. I'm 21 now. I'm moving out in a couple days about 30 miles away. Quotes for my own policy (right now I'm on my fathers) it's about $400 more every six months living in the new town then living here. The quote under my own policy living here is actually about the same as under my dads. The new town is a bigger not-so-nice city....
