I got my Stage 1 heads from TA. Very nice pieces, it was a shame to paint them.

One thing about installation, though- I use studs, and the stud near the outer two exhaust ports would be impossible to torque using the standard nuts.

A different nut must be used. TA can supply.

I talked to Mike yesterday on the phone, because I called up about this problem.

See, I am a step-by-step guy. I read the directions and do the work as I read. When I get to a paragraph, I read it, follow the directions, check it off, and move to the next paragraph.

The note regarding the use of 12 pt. 1/2-20 nuts was in the paragraph following the one with the torque specs :Dou: Be aware!

But the call to Mike wasn't wasted. I had a nice little chat with him. He asked if I had noticed the attention to detail on the heads. I said, 'yes'. We talked about that a little bit, and he was as I remembered him- not too busy to take a minute out of his day and talk to you, and he gives direct answers to direct questions.

What I DIDN'T remember to ask was which NGK plug he'd recommed for my street application. This car's a daily driver, what plugs are you guys running in your aluminum Stage 1 heads, and why?

I believe the which spark plug to use with those heads question has been brought up here before. I can't remember what the answer was. You might try doing a search for the answer.

I have never seen the aluminum Stage 1 heads to see if they take the peanut plug or the larger size. The Stage 2 heads are not tapered seat and take NGK BP4ES or BPR4ES-if that is any help. The "R" plug is just the resistor type.
    Good luck,

For most street motors, in the 10- 10.5 -1 range, I use the NGK BPR5ES11.

That's a resistor plug, but don't worry about that, since you have a much higher reistance plug wire on the motor, and I have yet to see a good ignition system have any trouble firing a resistor plug.

That plug also is factory gapped at .045.

Another option, if you want the 5/8 hex plug, is an NGK FR-5. That's for those super sneaky stock appearing guys.. but I won't mention any names...
