I was thinking about putting in some red neon light in my electra. Just for fun, although I fear it may look too ricey. If I hook in say three or four of these lights, do i just splice into and existing 12v source? I am going to put them onto a switch I think, and would I also need to put a higher amperage fuse into the panel from where I spliced the neon lights into?

    AAAhhh...

 Dude not in the Buick o.k? (buick cops @ your door)...."PUT DOWN THE NEON. STEP AWAY FROM THE BUICK AND NO ONE GETS HURT!" Besides it WILL look god awful. That will leave a lot of non-neon gaps along that boat. Trust me :Smarty:

I'm not talking about an underbody kit. I wanted just a neon tube or something under the dash, the CD player is red, everything else is red, I just thought it might look neat.

    Well..

O'.k that's not so bad then. Just try to get it up high so you just get an ambient glow. It also IMO shouldn.t be too bright. Good luck. :beer

Yes... about my wiring question then...

If I hook in say three or four of these lights, do i just splice into and existing 12v source? I am going to put them onto a switch I think, and would I also need to put a higher amperage fuse into the panel from where I spliced the lights into?

If I were you, I'd just wire them up in parallel and see if you blow any fuses. I really don't know how much current those thing would draw (do they say how much is needed?) but I would (uneducatedly) guess that it's not much. You may also want to go with a color that'll accentuate your interior instead of annoying you.

Imo, it is kinda ricey, but hey, done right, it'll probably look good.

Oh, and about the kappas...I got 6.5" component kappas, and currently have 6x9 3 way reference on the rear shelf. I really like the reference's, so I was hoping that the kappa's (being a step up) would sound better. I guess time will tell.

Oh yeah, can you send me a pic of those mirrors? I'm kinda looking for the GS sport mirror type look eventually, and free is a good price.

The Kappa 6.5 round speakers will probably not sound as good as the bigger 6x9. That is just beacuse they can't move as much air, highs and mids will probably sound better though. I also assume that they are going to be down by your feet, where as the 6x9 are right behind you, at head level. The KAPPAs handle more power, but you can't replace the speaker size. It's like there is no replacement for displacement (some would argue), but there is no replacement for speaker size I guess. The little Bose Jewelcube speakers my mom has DO NOT sound as good as my Speakerlab 4 foot tall 1.5 foot wide cabinet speakers.

I forgot I still had the mirror thing in my signature, I don't have them anymore. Sorry
