i want to get a set of longer wheel studs for the back of my regal. i think they prefer the longer and bigger studs when drag racing. anyone done this yet. its in my regal with the 10 bolt. i wonder if i can change them without pulling the axles.

Unfortunately, you're probably going to have to pull the axles. The stock studs barely come out with the brake backing plate. You might as well get some wheel seals and change the differential oil while you're at it.

i have done 7/16 and 1/2 by removing the wheel cylinder and going through that hole .

I used ARP #100-7708 ones on my Regal (front and rear) and they are about 1" longer than stock. They are also 12mm like the stock ones so you can use the lug nuts you already have to save some money. It has been so long I can't remember if I pulled the axles or not but I don't think I did. I have weld draglites and use the shank style lug nuts.

Pull the axles and install them properly. Don't try to pull them through by putting a lug nut on and tightening it with an impact wrench. Oh, it will pull them on alright, but it will also stretch the threads to the point that you won't get the lugnuts on without stripping them and ruining the new studs and lugnuts. No need to ask how I know that :(

thanks for the part #s i was looking on summit and theres like 50 differnet ones. i ended up puting pro stars on it that take the buldge seat lugnuts. i have all the chrome ones from my torque thrusts but i think im going to need open ended ones now.

As far as lugnuts go look carefully at the ones you have. Many of them look like solid units but they are two piece with a thin chrome cap that can be knocked off.

I have never seen this part number listed in either Summit or Jeggs but the will have them or can get them if you tell them what you want.

Great! Did you pull the axles? And how did you press them in?

yep i had to pull the axles. there was no other way. actually all i did was set up a jig to hold the axel nicely in my bench vise, lubed them up a little and just pounded them in. wasnt too bad at all. just a little elbow grease.
