I'm thinking of buying this set off eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-2...753-/331111860589?hash=item4d17ce096d&vxp=mtr

Regardless of the ones I end up buying, I'm wondering what is the best way to install these so that I will still retain the functionality of my current idiot lights. The voltage meter should not be a problem, but I know from past experience that both the water temp and oil pressure gauge hook up can be a little tricky for this to work right.

I've seen "Y" type adapters that can be used for the water temp, but those are often too shallow to allow the sender probe of the gauge to be inserted. Perhaps a "T" type fitting might work better if it is deep enough to allow both sending units to be inserted. What do you guys think?

The same applies to the oil pressure, but I think that should be easier to plumb as the sending unit only really applies to the original one. The gauge setup should be a tube with compression fitting I think. If you have an opinion on that as well, please feel free to express it. I've done these before, but it's been about 40 years. :Dou:

Due to the fact that my dash pad is currently off, I will probably install the cluster on top of the dash where the clock would normally sit. I want it easily seen so I can keep an eye on things.

Eventually, once the interior is finished, I plan to install an aftermarket center console like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/311171457897?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

And then use a gauge pod holder like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Triple-Thre...-TA-/291348737032?hash=item43d5bcec08&vxp=mtr

Mounted on the back of the console (over the tray area), mainly because I never did like drilling holes in the bottom of the dash and I think they look kind of tacky mounted that way. Just my opinion, I know most people do them that way, but I never did like it.

TIA for your input on this.
