Can anyone tell me the measurements to layout the strips on a 1971 GSX. Is this information available anywhere. I don't want to use a stripping kit from Phoenix Graphix. I realize a kit would be easier but I'm on a budget here and don't have the extra right now.
I asked the same question a couple of months ago. Couldn't get anyone to help me although one person suggested I buy the Buick assembly manual which I did but it turns out there was no striping information in the one I bought although it would not have mattered if there was because the manual was an unreadable reproduction I purchased from a ebay seller by the name of "auto4" Since I didn't have a snowballs chance of ever finding a GSX to measure stripes from, what I finally ended up doing was I bought a ERTL 1:18 scale GSX and used calipers to obtain all the measurements.
Stripe info The stripe info is in the Steve Dove GS Book, copies of the Buick build, look on Ebay or Amazon for the book, others have measured original cars instead of using the templates/stencils, Just a thought.
I collected a ton of different angle pics of original GSX's to give to my paint man and he was able to recreate the stripes perfectly. Pay close attention to the front of the fenders where the stripes come to a point and the area where the mismatch occurs on the rear quarter. Also the spoiler to get the width proportions right. Getting the right color black and the right red pin stripe should be available on here somewhere. It's been 3 years and I've forgotten the names of them plus I went with gloss black instead of the matte finish.
I have an old MuscleCar Review where they restored a fairly clean 70 GSX and made MANY measurements from the FACTORY applied stripes... I don't have a scanner but I could mail the mag to someone to scan and place on the board... Would that help????

stripe guide Postons sells a GS facts and figures book that has enough measurements and reference points to do your stripes, That what I used the first time. :3gears:
a while back some one posted a thread with a picture attached of all the measurements, do a search and see what you find. (it was less than a half-year ago)
1970,71,72 Stripping Layout Article from Muscle Car Mag. I have the Article that gives you the measurments for the side strips on the GSX thanks to user gd2227 who mailed it to me. The files are .jpg Open the file with Windows Picture viewer and increase the size to read measurements. E-mail me at landis1471@comcast.net and I will sent them to you. The document is to large to up load in this form and if I make it smaller you can't read the numbers.
