I'm attempting to put my car back on the road after a rather lengthy storage period (19 years), and need to replace the Q-Jet. The gas in the car really was 19 years old and it looked just like driveway sealer! It was almost solid in the tank! The car runs well (I disconnected the fuel pump and fill the float bowl with a small funnel), but I need to change the entire fuel delivery system. I now have a new Stage 1 Delco pump and a NOS sending unit/pickup for the tank. I am also working on replacing the fuel lines. I need to buy a high quality rebuilt Q-Jet and I don't want to give up my core because I may need to rebuild it in later years. So, this will be an outright purchase with no return core. I believe the Q-Jet on the car is a 750cfm for the 1970 model year and has always performed well. Any suggestions on a quality Q-Jet builder? I've talked to Custom Rebuilt Carburetors from New Jersey several times and they seem to know what they're doing. The work displayed on their website looks pretty good too. Anybody used their services for a Q-Jet? Or, does anyone have any suggestions of another professional I might contact? Here's a link to their site: http://www.customrebuiltcarbs.com/ Any assistance or information you can provide is greatly appreciated! Paul
I also recommend John Osborne. However, i'm not sure if he also does the cosmetics (re-dyeing). Give him a call.
