I just picked up this '72 Skylark 350-2 yesterday. 80880 original miles. I was looking for a muscle car to rot rod, but now I'm having second thoughts because this car is really clean.
Welcome! That's how mine started out. Then I replaced the original wheels and tires with Buick Rallyes, added dual exhausts and so on. I figured as long as I don't make any changes that can't easily be undone, why not enjoy it?
Thanks. I'm really glad to have my foot in the door. Yesterday I made an appointment to take the car in on Monday to have a dual exhaust system put on it. I'm going with 2 1/4" from manifolds to tailpipes, a couple turbo mufflers and (forgive me all you hardcore guys) Chevelle style chrome tips welded on. I know of a 455 with a TH400 behind it that I could get my hands on. I may drop that in and put the original 350/th350 in moth balls.
you want a dirty project? I'll trade you straight up - mine for yours  very, VERY nice car... If you're too afraid to cut it up... take everyones advice and do little stuff
Welcome, and I must say, a very nice car! A very good candidate for a muscle car conversion!:beer :TU: -Cody
Wow Talk about a NICE A-body! Great find, awesome car. Look at how clean it is too! You could eat off that grill. Welcome.
Thanks. Just got her back from the shop. The new duals look and sound very nice. Next is the decision of either adding some bolt on power to the 350 or dropping a 455 in it. Im leaning towards the 455.
I would store it away. Im going to put forth a great effort not to do anything to the car that cant be undone. Im looking forward to having some fun with it, but I feel its greatest value, long term, is as an original.
