in search of 68 Sport Wagon parts

Hi gang.

I just bought my first vintage Buick, a 1968 Sport Wagon 400. Great car, with a few bugaboos I'm trying to fix. First off, the gas gauge is stuck on full. My mechanic says there's an open in the sending unit, though without pulling the tank, he couldn't say if it's broken or rebuildable. Is this a Sport Wagon only part, or what is the interchangability?

Second, the switch on the power tailgate doesn't work. The window goes up and down using the switch on the dash, and all the parts appear to be in place in the tailgate, so I'm thinking it's a bad switch. Is this part also Sport Wagon only, or is it a GM standard wagon part?

where are you located?

 

I'm in Alameda California, just outside Oakland.

 

My sportwagon gauge did the same thing.You don't need to remove the tank to get it out. there is a panel in the wheelhouse that unbolts for access.
