    Happy Holidays everyone...

I'm looking for a 455 for my '68 Skylark. I will be as clear as possible with what I'm looking for and I hope I adhere to the rules of the board when doing so  also since this is my first Buick I'm fairly green to this so please excuse me if I stumble :pp

-I'm looking for a drop in or as close to one as possible. I don't want to rebuild if I can avoid it. I can go that direction at this time but don't have the time and money to do it right. I plan on doing that this time next year, Maybe :Do No:

-I've read as much as I can and tried to catch up on what years are the best for Blocks, Heads, oiling etc. but get confused the further I go  Please give me as much info as possible when responding. This will help me learn.

-Money is an issue and will always be. By the looks of it I can spend up to $2000. I hope this is a real number for something I can drop in and enjoy for the summer. If not, I'm out of luck :Do No: Please keep this in mind when responding to me because I'm not much of a haggler and I can easily be talked in to spending more than I have  One of the reasons why I'm single. I'm also hiding it from my 4 kids who have a knack of finding and spending it :Dou:

-I live out on Long Island, NY and have a truck that barely makes it to the Land Fill so location is fairly important. Shipping is always an option. I work in a Manufacturing facility and have a forklift on hand. We also have a company truck that may be able to make a Detour if it is not too far out of the way from its normal routes :pp

-My car is a 68 Skylark with a 350, 2-speed tranny and stock rear. I have a TH400 and a 3.73 Posi rear waiting for the 455. I need to look in to a drive shaft and suspension for the setup.

I hope I gave enough info and not asking for too much. I apologize if I posted wrongly.

    Thanks for your time,
    Wayne

the oil passage mods should be made if you ever tear the motor down and should be ignored otherwise. the larger oil passages / pickup are primarily for engines that are being built or will see hard use.

also, if you insist on the larger oil passages and carb you're going to lock yourself out of the factory stock type early year high hp engines (71 and earlier) ... all of which had the smaller 1/2" pickup and the 750cfm quadrajet. and the 67-69 430s are all more powerful from the factory than the 71 and up 455s.
