Does anyone have a suggestion on an in-dash speaker to put in the stock location on my 66 Skylark? The original one is shot

Thanks in advance for the help!

Is your radio stock or aftermarket? If it's stock you need to use a specific ohmage range. Checkout turnswitch.com speakers. They make stock, but modern compatble speakers for old cars. Smaller, but more powerful magnets are used and it would be the last one you ever need. I run these in my cars.

I'm in the process of updating my `65 Skylark. Keeping the visuals all OE, but a separate aftermarket radio. I am putting an updated 6 x 6 JBL 3 way speaker in the dash that requires no modification to the original dash. Doing the same for the 6 x 9 location at the package tray. I had to buy pairs, but am only using one of each. In the near future I want to sell the other two thinking that someone will want to do the same.

Nice Speakers Scott. I have a new Radio coming and wonder if it would push a Speaker this size. I have Three other radios that don't work plus the One taking up space in my Skylark. I need a 4ohm speaker this size. I put in 8 ohm speakers and blew the radio. All Three of them. I guess it takes me a long time to figure things out. I'll have to take them all in and get them fixed.

I ordered those speakers from OPGI first before I took the dash apart. Not even close. the dash speaker is 6 x 6 and the rear speaker is 6 x 9. The OPGI ones are 4 x 10

Well that sure is interesting and weird! I know there are other folks who make these speakers. I myself will do like the rest of the car....make it better than Buick did in 66.

    Here's a 6" speaker

    or these

Im going to run the kick panels they make that have a 6.5 and one of the sst radios. My back dash is cut so im gonna run something back there but hide it under the back dash like cars in the 80s did.

Turnswitch offers a drop in. I purchased one for my 67GS and had absolutely no problem. Can't remember the gentleman's name I spoke with but he was very helpful. Give them a call.

If you need a replacement speaker for the OEM radio I have one NIB that I ordered before I put in an aftermarket radio.

Let know if you are interested, be willing to make you a deal.
