If we are trying to make about 500-600 with a Buick 350 then we have a few options:

    1. Rev it really high and use high compression with huge cam
    2. Add nitrous
    3. Add another power added such as turbos or supercharger

Obviously the first option is not great for the street... The nitrous engine is fine on the street but you only get that HP when you hit the nitrous and that costs $.

Turbos are easy to adjust the boost level unlike the superchsrgers where you need to swap belts and pulleys. Higher up front cost with these options but no refils.

Hopefully the new heads will allow a nice 10:1 engine that is both good on the street and not need any power added.... I do think that a nice hot setup with a 100 shot would be awesome!

I am not offended by any remarks I am not going to worry about if it is cheating or any of that. I did it in the beginning to run with my brothers nut case Mustangs with pro chargers and superchargers and one with NOS. I mean really you want me to run on the motor, a 350 no less, against all that? I ran on the motor for ten years prior, so I was very happy with the way the 350 was running. I was scared to even try it I did not want to blow up the engine.

I really do not want to try and push the motor to the limits, I want it to run right where I have it in that 12.50 range. Keep the intake cool with the nitrous will let the car be more consistent and it looks like the small shot is doing its job, not real fast, just enough to run with the big blocks and the new small blocks. This is for bracket racing if I can do it and get back there, and of course to keep you in the rear view mirror lol

My power adder is no different than adding a Pro Charger or a Turbo or a supercharger they all do the same thing and that is add power to the engine. Hey, if a top fueler can have one so can I so there..:moonu::3gears::bla::beers2:

By the way, I beat two of those Mustangs, The one with the under hood super charger I ran from a 30 mph roll, got a car on him soon as that nitrous hit the floor, on the rev limiter at 6200 shift to second and stayed a car on him till after 3rd gear. The other one I beat had nitrous and I tree'd his butt and beat him to the line, That was my 11.87@112 run with a 350 trans 3500 stall 1.65 60ft. Did that at D42 back in 2005.

Motor has stayed together very well up to this point.

One more thing, You cannot run nitrous on the street, it is strictly for drag racing purposes only. The juice comes on when you hit the floor, It is crazy when launched this way, about like Larry's 455 leaving the line. lol.

I will build the motor to run NA with new heads and the SP3. the nitrous will just be that little fun extra to have fun with, and maybe to use as a bracket racing tool to keep the intake cool. just a small shot 75 hp is plenty right now.

With al. heads you can go as high as 11:1 maybe a bit higher depending on cam and still run pump gas. :Brow:

20 - 40 extra cubes would help bring the power band down to be more useable for the street. Although if you ever took a ride in Mart's car with his home ported heads and that huge roller cam he has in it complimented with how he has the rest of the car setup you wouldn't insult a N/A sbb 350 like that!(Mart's car runs GOOD!) He only revs the thing to 6,200 RPM max IIRC with again IIRC 10:1 compression, the last time he went to the track he blew up an 8.2 rear end with that engine! Imagine an extra 30 cubes and 1,000 more RPM with his engine! That cam makes it sound like a BB, he did a very impressive job with his car!(Shhhh, don't say anything, I don't want his ego to get out of hand  :eek2:) Would love to see what his car would do in the QM without anything breaking! That cam in a stroker short bock with his heads and an SP3 would be a match made in heaven, even better with a set of the new al. heads if they ever get released?!

I think you underestimate what can be done with the sbb 350 platform N/A, Sean. I wouldn't say one could make 1,000 HP N/A very easy, but 600 pump gas HP that is as streetable as Mart's car would be a possibility, especially with 20-40 extra cubes and the new heads. The good part about using the sbb 350 platform is that it doesn't need a jockstrap to handle up to 1,000 HP! :Brow:

Wow, instead of tuning the GS in, I've been busy r&r' ing exhaust manifolds on the boat engine, plus finishing up second home crap... Not been a great year for getting dialed in.

Not done yet. My spare engine will get the N/A mods, 11-1, Auto tech slugs, good rods, same roller cam, plus the alum. heads.
Converter may need a restall to 3,600 ish too....
    I love my 410's!!! with the 2004r.

I'm swapping in a CK built 200 to go with my 4.56 gear, nice!

Using a 3.73 rear and the 200-4r trans with .67 final drive ratio comes to around 2.499 if I recall. Pretty good street/strip gearing. A 4.10 would be more strip oriented of course, but still plenty good for street use with that overdrive trans.

I wonder though--do those numerically high gear ratios whine more than street gears? I know the teeth need to be aligned properly no matter what you have, but have heard many stories (and have heard them myself) of 4 series gearing being noisier than 3 series.

Any input from experienced users here?

Was poking around my engine wondering why my oil pressure went from 58/60 lbs on the way home from Norwalk Sunday to 40/41 lbs doing 60 mph (around 3000 rpm)
While removing the filter, it felt notchy, "what the heck" As I removed it, out came the filter bypass valve, hmmmmm, new TA pump cover too.

From my experience this true , I've setup over a dozen rear ends, and all of the deep geared ones were a touch vocal at certain speeds or conditions, I do set mine up tight tho , rear in my Orange car was setup with .004 backlash, it's got a rpm window rite around 2800 where it whines just a tad, my brothers 3.31 is quite as a can be with .010
