I am looking for a ignition with key, for a 50 buick special but cant find one, I just bought the car and i have the key for the doors and trunk but the ignition key was lost overtime anyone have any suggestions?
Try all the keys from any GM car from the 30s -60s. The trunk keys also. You will probably find on that will work. You can then have acopy made.
You can pull out the ignition and bring it to a locksmith theyll make you one. I took the lock out of my door, but I guess in your case they changed out the ignition at some point.
MY 50 Buick 50buick - My 50 Roadmaster's trunk and ignition key are the same and the door key is different.
Thanks for the help guys, the key i have works for everything besides the ignition and the gas cap, from what I understand it is the orignal ignition. I am going to try the locksmith route I am sure it will be cheaper to do then buying a new ignition. I will update you guys and let you know what worked. Off to go buy the battery!
I feel dumb now but they key does fit and happily to say the Engine turns over!!!! I was hoping it wasnt seezed up and it isnt! So thats one less thing to worry about now to get her running!
ON my 56 the Door Key and the Ignition Key are the same, Octagon Shape The Trunk Key and the Glove Compartment Key is Round.
