I just purchased a 68 Riv GS and am trying to remove the ignition switch from a donor car, I have the chrome ring loose, but it will not get past where the key goes in, what's the secret? Also, how do I remove the knob and key assmb. for the glove box. Both have to be replaced on the GS. Thanks for all your help in the past, this is a great site. john

68 requires a special tool. Visit www.opgi.com for the tool.
Glove box is tricky but can be done with a finishing nail.

Thanks for the link and the help, I see a small hole in the ignition, but I'm still lost on the glove box. Thanks, john

If you look at the back side of the glove box lock, you will see a small opening where you can place a small finishing nail/brad nail/scriber. In the opening, you will see several small brass "tangs/tabs." Slowly depress one and gently pull with your other hand on the knob. As it slides out, release the brass tab. Repeat the process for each tab and the lock cylinder will slide out. You will then use a large allen wrench to unscrew the outer sleeve retaining nut from the lock cylinder casing. Once you start looking at the lock set-up you will understand what I mean. :beer

I was having spare keys made once, and brought my glove-box door to the lock smith. They removed and disassembled the lock for free - took just a few minutes.
