Ok, I wanted to move the 66 today to mow the grass under it. I knew there was a problem with them electrical system before I started to move it. When you first start it up, it won't stay running unless you keep the key in the start position for a while after it starts. You never really know how long, as each time seems to be different. So it was bothering again today. I really didn't want to screw around with it, so I hooked a jump wire from the battery to the coil. I knew that the key wouldn't turn it off then, but I could get it moved with out the usual playing around for 5 minuets. It still wouldn't stay running  Why not o No: The lights on the dash stay on, but it dies like you turned the key off. It's not very high on my list to fix yet, as it's my next project car. I just would like to be able to move it from time to time without jumping through hoops first. It has the stock 300 in it, and looks to be an all stock electrical. Thanks, Dan :3gears:
Dan, I would check your positive battery cable and other wires right up to your starter. You might have a short. Also check your points. I think had this problem like 20 years ago ou: . Good Luck. Bob
