Does anyone know of a suppier of direct fit black ignition wires to fit a 72 GS 455? The Delco sets don't hold up!!! I'm trying to keep a stock look and not looking for colored fat wires under my hood. AL :Do No:

Mike, the wires fit like a glove but the heat from the engine is causing them to fail. I have gone threw 2 sets. I can tell when they are ready to fail by missing and a light show under the hood at night. Is you car a big block? AL.

    Al,

Yes, my GS has the Big Block (400)..... I guess I will still try them to see if I have better luck than you have been having...:Do No:

I was going to buy a set from "pertronics (spelling?) (the company that makes the modules that replace your points), they do sell a "stock look" set of wires that are supposed to handle the higher voltage that the pertronics unit puts out., but I figured I would try the Delco wires since I was able to pick them up from the dealer the same day.

Mike you may be ok the 72 455 I think run hotter then the 400 engines. Good Luck, If you run into problem let me know. A reminder the easy check on wire condition would be to park the car in a very dark place and look for the light show, AL.

    Al,
I use the MSD super conductor 8.5 mm, spiral core wire. The part # 31373, is for the Chevvy BB with points cap. The wires are black with gray straight boots. These wires have 40-50 ohms/foot, as opposed to 1500 ohms/ foot for conventional wire
