I don't understand it!!! I have gone through 3 sets of Delco Ignition wires. You guys know my car (72 GS 455). After a short peroid of time the wires put on a light show at night and the wires are new!!! Has anyone had a problem like this? The only thing could come up with is maybe the heat of the engine is damaging the wires (stock exhaust). AL.

No one has made a post on this but I will say Delco ignition wires are no good for a 455. Ignition Man told me I should go with mega coil heavy duty wires becauce of the heat in the engine compartment. I will do this tomarrow and post. AL

What is the max voltage that wire sees?

Once the voltage pushes out a spark to ground thru the insulation, it will leave a carbon trail because of the insulation burns, which then increases the potential for more discharges leading to a thermal runaway and insulation failure. Fire retardant silicon rubber will eliminate that from happening.

    Al,
Carbon core wires are garbage, and start to degrade as soon as you run them on the car. Spiral core wires offer lower resistace, and as long as the insulation is undamaged, will last a good long time. They may not look stock, but your engine will know the difference. I'm sure Dave told you as much.

Larry, yes he did. And the only problem is to find the larger wire holders to keep the engine compartment where they belong. I saw Moroso makes a black set of "mega coil" wires and I'm leaning to then. I don't care for the color wires. AL
