Tonite I went to the weekly gathering at the local Chick-fil-A. When I went to start my car to leave, the starter cranked, but when I release the key to the "run" position, the car dies. Gettin' gas. Jumpered from +12v source to one side of the Ballast resistor, and the car runs. Checked the voltage across the resistor while cranking, it's ok. No volts when key is switched to "run".
Got the car home with the jumper installed. Turned the ignition off and removed the key--car still running. Disconnected the + battery cable--car still running. Removed the jumper(and a couple of wires it was tied to) and the car shut down. I'm thinking the wire from the ignition switch(it's 56 years old) or the switch. Won't be able to get to it till Sunday. :Do No:
    Any help/ideas appreciated.
    Thanks, Chris
