Since 1990, HEI with stock coil. 2004 I recurved it and added a MSD Super HEI module. 2007 I converted it to 455 and locked the advance. I never had any problems. I been using Taylor wires.

The only thing I don't like about it is it's big, ugly and doesn't look stock.

I use the Pertronix Ignitor electronic ignition with the Flamethrower coil (black stock looking). I like that the system doesn't look aftermarket and I have not had any problems with it after six years.

Ditto along with an MSD 6AL. So far so good, the rev limiter is nice. Taylor wires.

Same setup for me as well except it is an Ignitor II and I also run the Pertronix wires as well because they are stock looking and perform well.

Its been 4 years and I'm starting to have some problems with the Pertronix now. The usual pertronix complaints, hard starting etc. So I'm having a dist. converted by Dave Ray at www.davessmallbodyheis.com.

MSD billet distrib, MSD blaster 3 coil, MSD 6al (hidden) and MSD 8.5 wires. maybe overkill but works flawless so far and I got it as a killer package deal price.

MSD 6AL circa 1993. Bolted it on and forgot about it.

Mallory unilite conversion in the stock distributor with MSD blaster coil painted black since 1994, 7mm parts store replacement wires. Blew the LED in 1996, installed the filter and no problems since.

Running Dave's Small Body HEI conversion on my '63 Riv for... has it been 4 years already??? Wow. Runs great.

Running AC Delco wires because they just look right.

As long as my air filter housing is installed, ignition looks stock. With coil showing (air filter off) you can see some extra non-stock wires on the coil and you can see I mounted the coil vertically (as Dave recommends) instead of stock horizontal mount.

It is the way to go.
