    Hi all,
My car is having a miss or sputter only when I accelerate hard.If I acceleate gradually to full throttle it doesn't seem to do it or is hardly noticeable. I initially thought it might be jetting or ignition but I've
playing around with both and the problem still exists.Could it be the filter in the gas tank? The engine is a 455 with the following mods:
    800 thermquad
    Performer intake
    Hooker s.comp headers
    stinger ignition

I would like to get this bug solved before I install my stage1 heads,x-pipe and ignition from Dave's small body Hei.Any advice or tips is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Mike Villamor :Do No:

It sounds like a fuel supply problem to me. I know very little about the TQ carbs, so I can't offer any advise...I thought they were all 1000 cfm??

If you had a Holley, I would tell you to check your idle mixture, throttle blade position at idle, your "squirter", your "squirter" cam, your accelerator pump, your vacuum secondary diaphram and spring (if applicable). We would then start talking about your jetting.

...but you don't have a Holley.

At least my post will get you back "To The Top". :TU:

    Good Luck.

    Mike,
Sometimes the Stingers will do this when the box begins to go bad. If you can get a hold of an MSD Box, you can trigger it with the Stinger distributor.

When my Stinger died...it just died. Left me on the side of the road. :af: Was on my way to the track. :ball: Fortunately, I had not gone more than a mile. :) So it wasn't a big deal.

Thanks guys for your input.I re-adjusted the accelerator pump shot to give a little more and it did get better but I didn't get a chance to drive it on the freeway. Iwill eventually upgrade ignition boxes and change the sock in the gas tank also.
    Thanks again,Mike
