Well, My new 455 is just about broken in now. I have put several hundred miles on it. I must say I am very please with the performance. I can't wait to run it at the track. Maybe I will make the Buick performance Weekend at Englishtown......:Brow:

I was idling around the local cruise night (Jackson Outlet Mall, NJ) looking for a parking spot. I noticed that although the engine temperture was ok (180-190) The longer I idled the worse the car ran. And once I gave up and left if I tried to accellerate hard at all it would buck, misfire, and pop or almost backfire through the exhaust.

It has also done this on the highway prior to the cruise night. I had relocated the heater hose (moved it away from the coil and distributor) and it seamed to cure the problem on the highway.

I am running a small body HEI from Ignitionman with a accel super stock coil he supplied.

Would a bad coil cause this problem? Should I move the coil to the firewall? Perhaps the ignition module is getting overheated? or going bad? :Do No:

Jake, I was there with my GSX and it was pretty crowded as you say. Did you check the plugs? If they loaded up, then it would cause your problem. How did it run after cooling down?

Al, She runs fine after she cools a little. After a few miles of driving it was fine. I haven't pulled a plug while it was acting up but I don't think it is a fouling problem...... It realy feels like a timing / spark / misfire....

BTW I was the 69 GS with the Skylark body side trim (Don't ask......) You X is super nice.....

Thanks, if you need a factory points dist to try isolate the problem, I should have one. I think I have an Accel coil too.

I installed one of those Accel coils with my ignitionman distributor, and MSD Digital 6. The coil lasted about 2 hours run time before it dropped dead. Turned out the coil was from Taiwan, even though the box said made in the USA. I think the only thing made in the USA was the box itself. If the coil does not have a segmented crimp at the top, it's foreign made. I switched to the MSD 8200 chrome coil, and it's been great. The coil could be breaking down when hot. Try another one.
