Ok thanks to thepartsman,:beer I was able to get keys made!!:)

Ok bear with me. Anything I may have known before is gone from my head-just gone. So I'm a newbie all over again. Anyway this thing in the middle seem to be part of the problem. It will move at the slightest touch of the throttle, but not go back.

Here it is in the forward position which allows the car to idle low and what would seem normal. Only manually using my finger will it return to the previous pic.

This clip wasn't put back after the mech changed valve cover gaskets. :Dou: Doesn't seem to matter if it's on or off. :Do No:

The ONLY hose not connected is the second one off the aircleaner assem. I looked at the routing stickers and it shows that it should be "teed" to one more in to the rear of the carb. There is nothing missing as I see it, but maybe the back of the round thingie on the left is missing something.
"Thingie"- told ya I forgot anything my unc. tought me. I hope he's not rolling over in his grave...:( :Dou:

Make sure the cruise control cable isn't pinched under the edge of the valve cover. No need to ask why I know about this failure mode...

Well looks like the Haynes manual I bought for this SUCKS!!!:af: LOL!!!! When discussing the carb it mentions the choke closing and one pic of the idle adjustment screw!!!!!! Have another one coming from ebay soon (hopefully), but need this one up and running to get Brandy's Jeep serviced.:( It's leaking a lot more oil than it should (for a Jeep.LOL-errr), looking at timing cover gasket, manifold gasket and others I'm sure. Now I COULD take care of these issues but my back will NOT allow it.....:ball:

    Sorry for the ramble....:Dou:

My 73 Olds had a fast idle(solenoid? dash pot?). Whatever it was electric. Each time after cranking the fast idle doohickey would not let the idle down until I kicked the throttle to the floor and immediately let up.

    Maybe this helps:Do No:
