I've removed all a/c from my '72 350-4 Skylark do I still need the idle stop solenoid?

I did alittle testing today and noticed that with the car in park and I remove the wire to the solenoid and the plunger doesn't move I have the idle set at 65o rpm using the idle set screw. I'm thinking I wouldn't need it since the compressor is gone and won't bog down the engine.

I've been driving the car this way and it drives good and idles well.

I do rember it working when I had the a/c when I last turned it up.

    Thanks
