Not enough TIME (7 days) to get rid of ALL of my Buick Collection (ALL Cars, ALL Parts, for $8,000, to BUY "THIS" CAR!:eek2: ), but I WOULD for THIS: :jd: Frame Off Restoration! '78 Lotus Esprit, as used in the James Bond movie, The Spy Who Loved Me!:bglasses:
That seems to be a good price, even if it wasn't actually used in the movie. Wouldn't give up my Skylark for it though!!
Just to let you know, Lotus's are a BITCH when it comes to servicing them. Lotus never allowed parts to be made that could be sold at a part's store. You have to go to Lotus to get anything. An engine rebuild can easily run you $10 to $15K. I learned this lesson when I was looking around and eventually bought a Maserati Ghibli. $1,000 for a tune-up. It's nuts with those hi-end exotics.
Former boss had a new one in '87. Car was just too high strung for everyday driving. Go like a scalded cat, he only had it for a couple months. Traded for the MB SL series roadster. Much nicer car.
Does nothing for me,another exotic, expensive, rarity that you have to be rich to own and maintain. Give me a big block Buick anyday!!!!
Lotus made some great cars. (also some crappy ones, elite, eclat) a lot of parts for my 73 europa were shared ford stuff. not difficult to work on at all. if i could i would buy an elise. 13.1 1/4mile from the factory, 0-100-0 in 17 and don't bother trying to catch it in the twistys. or, import a banks 47d. basically its a "new" europa with a v8.
Oh, come on, now! You mean to tell me that if you were to buy it for $8,000 (or LESS, maybe even around $6,000, as it's a "Best Offer" deal), "WE" couldn't transplant an '87 Turbo V6 (Buick, of course) in there, and that wouldn't be the COOLEST thing to show up at the Buick show?!:TU::laugh: I THINK SO!:bglasses: I like the Body style (at least it HAS a Body Style, unlike any NEW cars, '80's and up!:TU: )! I bet it would be EXTREMELY FAST, if it had a GN engine in the REAR of that car!:eek2::TU::bglasses: I believe it can be done, too. If anyone could do it, John Spina could (like the Turbo V6 Shelby Cobra that he did!):Brow::TU: What is MOST appealing about this car, to me, is the PRICE!:Smarty: The owner has "invested $40,500" for the Purchase and Frame Off Restoration of the car, and he is selling it for $7,000 plus shipping cost!o No: I've actually considered just Flying out there, and DRIVING it home (about 11 hour drive). It is SOOO tempting.... Seriously....
But that wouldn't be no fun!!! It doesn't need any work! That is unless..... He put the "submarine option" on it???
Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious I have a mate I work with offshore who has one these in England, He is now too fat to get into it !! so it now just sits in his garage, like one those cars in barns stories,he reckons he will fit into again someday....dreamin!!
Is that one of those cars that you can drive into the water, motor around and then drive back onto land?
sure it has its quirks, but it is unique. how many cars look like an esprit? (i will now offend more people with my next comment than in any other post so far) gs's, chevelles, and such look so similar they may as well be the same car. driver2, buy that car!!!! every time i read your posts, i think of chris farleys motivational speaker. could you please end your posts with" you'll END up living in a VAN down BY the RIver.
HAHAH!!!!! WOOHOOO. :Brow: p  :TU: thats helarious sorry. Scott, Buy it. Buy it, Buy it.
just think of the entertainment it could provide for the skate board crowd! do a launch right off that hood, man!:TU:
