Randy from YouTube channel Auto Auction Rebuilds bought a 1987 Grand National: I Bought a 1987 Buick Grand National for HALF PRICE with Hidden Issues! It's not everyday someone offers me a Buick Grand National for 50% off the average sales price with paint that looks better than showroom new! I bought this sight unseen and found out it has some pretty crazy issues. It was stolen in 1997, the tires rub the fenders, and it's running very badly. Can we fix this for cheap or did I make a really bad decision?
He got what looks like a sweet car for the price! The only downside is he’s stuck with it, probably a hard sell if he were to flip it due to the sketchy paperwork and documentation. Still it’s a nice example, whether it’s real or not.
...again with the Regal/Grand National thing; Post-August 3 (1987), Grand Nationals had notable window sticker differences. Model designation was no longer “1987 REGAL 2 DR COUPE” with “GRAND NATIONAL” (WE2) in the option list, but “1987 GRAND NATIONAL.” The WE2 option became part of the (increased) base price. Grand National was now officially a Buick Model…no longer just an optioned Regal. Quickest way to verify GN is trunk SPID label (with missing VIN), providing PO didn't swap decklids or get a repro. With the no VIN issue, car could be just a GN "tribute." Buyer beware...
Me thinks the car was punched pretty hard in the front, and totaled, then rebuilt. Probably never know since the buyer doesn’t know much of the GN history or original equipment. Still a nice car for the money tho.
I have posted a few comments in his video, giving info, advice, opinions, etc. (Thanks, Dynaflow) It looks as though ALL documents have been removed... If it ever was a T/R it sure has had a LOT of trouble put into it to pass it off as A GN, with all those wires, harnesses, relays that are T/R specific. You Would have had to have one REALLY good Regal body, and a COMPLETE but messed up GN to pull it off. There are just SO much stuff that does and does not interchange. I believe it WAS a GN that was a theft attempt.
OBD stands for "on board diagnostics" . Why doesn't he just read the error codes and stop guessing? Just short 2 wires in the OBD connector and count the flashes. He also needs an LS MAF with a translator.

Those aluminum copies of the steel GN wheels weren’t cheap back in the day, IF someone was trying to copy a GN, they put an awful lot of money into it to only get 24 grand.
I subscribe to him but don't watch him anymore. As much as I enjoy some of his cars he is way rude to some fans.
