I don't know. Lots of good feedback and the only bad feedbacks looked like he resolved the issue the best he could. UPS banged up one, one that was what was shown, could have been buyer error, and one screw up with the wrong bumper.
    I wouldn't worry too much.
Shipping the core back might cost a few bucks though!

Check out the PayPay Buyer Protection program. You're covered as long as you meet their criteria.

well...we just got off the phone ...45 minute conversation ....

I told him straight forward that :

my gut feeling is telling me I'm getting scammed ....he starts laughing
he asks why ...and I tell him that he switched emails (3 of em)for paypal payment

he says he has differ accounts for differ reasons ....
he tells me he has good standings with many people through ebay

and he hypnotizes me on the spot with.....of how nice and clean the bumper is and that he knows its a low price for it ..and he will throw in free bolts

he then proceeds to send me emails of different types of invoice with those emails as proof that he is on the level ....

I tell him those emails mean nothing ....he starts laughing ..says he will mark our ebay auction as paid to show good faith on his side..

    so he does ....

and I tell him that means nothing

I ask him how long he been doing business with bumpers ..

tells me his family is in it for over 30-40 some years....
then he mentions that many people have confused him and affiliated him with bumper boys and tells me he use to know em but not affiliated with them ..

I tell him I want the part # on the bumper and a picture of the rear of the bumper and the exact measurement of cutouts center to center (just to test him out as if I know )....he starts laughing and asks me if its a joke .....I say no

he says the bumper is boxed up already but he will get me the pics in a few days

I told him to hold up the dated section front page of his local newspaper within the picture he sends of the bumper......

he starts laughing and says I'm crazy .....I tell him that I feel like its a scam

he asks me if I want the bumper sent first and then make payment later ....I laughed and then he says that I'm the scammer ....AAHAHAHHHA

    we both start laughing

then I asked him if he had kids ....he said he had 2 daughters ...
I told him if he is ebay scamming.... may the curses of curses fall upon his children

he starts laughing even harder ...

says he will send me the pics or the bumper or nothing

this guy is a pro scammer or is he for real ... :Do No:

    lets see what Jose sends

I don't know. If you look at his feedback, it goes back quite a ways and the people vary from having one feedback to having over three thousand. His profile goes back to 2002. Many of the bumpers sold for less, they look good in the pictures, and the buyers were happy. If it's a scam, he has a lot of years of work into trying to get your $400.
To tell you the truth, I need a nice back bumper and I'm going to mark him as a seller to be able to contact him later.
Go with your gut if you think you have to, but I think he sounds good.
Maybe you want to send an email out to a few of his prior customers and see what they say. I would just be happy that I saved a few bucks.

I hope this isn't Bumper Boys, they are in Calif and hispanic and travel to the different swap meets around the country.bumpers look good but some don't fit right and the plating wears fairly quickly.

did that already ...2 out of 3 replied with good comments ......

Bumper boys ?...he mentions on his own that he is not affiliated with them
and that people assume bcs of him being Hispanic and from California

wait and see what he sends for pics...

I toom would have to try it cause thats a steal for 600 and even better at 400. Most N25 cores bring almost that much.

I dont know if I would characterize a $400 bumper as almost free. Ive seen them go for alot more during the price frenzy a couple years ago . I think the market has readjusted.

I recieved a bumper from Doug Paine a while back and it was about $60 bucks to ship. Ive also shipeed out one for the same price. I assume, because he has a business, he has an account with a shipper. He might even receive a shipping discount if he has any volume.

I dont know, I dont smell anything from here.

$400 is a good price, but it isn't like free. Couple of board members in Texas get them done for $325 and they are nice from what I hear. You gotta figure you are going to have to pay the core charge too though, unless you have an N-25 bumper sitting around. You should ask him what he will take in exchange as a core.........

You probably have to assume its a stamped N-25 if he's taking in regular bumpers as cores

  13. rex362

    rex362 paint clear and drive

he says its original .....and he asked me what I have for core ..

I told him my core is a non N25 and to good to send as a core ...

he said ....he would waive the core charge initially ...just paypal the $430 and I
can send him the $200 later ..

thats another reason why its fishy like ....

to me a redone n25 and shipped for $430 is free

The guy seems plenty real. He has real customers going back for years. The account has been on ebay and active selling bumpers all that time with happy customers, and you chose to place the buy it now bid. You have checked with prior customers and they reported that they were happy, and you have talked with the guy on the phone. I don't know what is left other than the guy driving to your house with the bumper for you to check out.
You should either send the cash or tell him sorry. If it makes you feel better I would bet he would be willing to take $600 - $800 for the bumper. That way you will be paying what you feel is a fair price.

maybe I haven't explained it properly ......basically

he does not want me to buy it through ebays system ...

he wants me to paypal some other handle and he skips his process
of core deposit that he emphasizes on ebay

fishy fish...see if he sends pics of rear of bumper

If you dont think its right dont do it!!! my past experience on ebay is if someone is not straightforward then what you get in the end is screwed. The only way you are covered by buyer proyection is if you pay through paypal through the ebay system. Do not pay a paypal invoice not generated through ebay. if it sounds to good to be true it probably is!!! Wait for another bumper to come along

I would bet that his multiple email accounts and paypal accounts are because he's trying to run under the tax radar.

Rex- i dealt with this crew in the past. You call the number, some guy answers, then passes off the phone to Juan (?). Is the mailing address a residential 'apartment'? We went back and forth (as I didn't trust him either) due to core charges vs price. In the end, he was straight up...
If your gut is telling you to run, however, RUN :TU:
