Recently purchased a 49 Willys sedan delivery with a '77 231 oddfire V6 in it.(Built) Has a TH350 with a 0 stall converter. (Why??? I dunno, but he did it.) Also has a '92 Cherokee pumpkin with 3:55's. At 60mph it is tacking at 2800 rpm. Will a 200R-4 bring my rpm's down significantly? If so, exactly what should I look for to mate up to the block and trans. mount. What type of converter should be installed? Many questions, and much to think about. Help and advice greatly appreciated!!
well THAT'S an esoteric hot rod build. any of the Buick small block v8's should drop right in with minimal difficulty. or you could hook up a mid 80s GN turbo. as for the tranny swap.... TH-350 gearing: Code: 3.55 rear final drive ratio 1st 2.52 8.846 2nd 1.52 5.296 3rd 1.000 3.55 200-r4 gearing: Code: 3.55 rear final drive ratio 1st 2.74 9.7306 2nd 1.568 5.5664 3rd 1.000 3.55 4th 0.674 2.3927 by my calculations your revs at cruise should drop to around ~1900rpm.
