I have Iroc rims that are 15x7's. What is the fattest, reasonable sized tire that would fit on the back of these rims and the best size for handling on the front. This is for the street with the occasional race. What size would you guys run? This is for an 84 regal btw.

    thanks,
    Dan

I have been running 215-60-15s in front and 235-60-15s in the back and have wanted to run something bigger so I am curious to see what info people have on this topic. Are 275-60-15's on 8" rims possible out back without rubbing?

275/60R15 will rub in the back. Depending on what way your wheels are offset, they'll either rub on the frame or the fenderwell lip. I've got a '78 Monte with 15x7 S-10 wheels all the way around, 225/60R15 on front they rub on the inner fender on tight turns and 255/60R15 on the rear, no rubbing whatsoever. In back I can just get my hand between the frame and rear tires easily.

Depending what offset--GN chrome wheels would rub with,275-60-15's
Ttype wheels with 275-60-15 wont rub

Ive got 255-60-15 on my WE4 with auto drags on it and they dont rub

So what are the differences in terms of backspacing/offset between the two wheels that 275-60-15 will fit with one and not the other?

i just measured my 84 gn wheels(same as t-type alum) and they are
    3 1/2 back space
my 87 chromes are 4 in back space
you can get custom backspacing on gn chromes and others from
brian at gbodyparts.com if you want to custom widened factory rims
