I found the underhood lights on Cutlass/Olds models...common item. The underhood light for truck was on Chevy/GMC models and is not too hard to find.
That is indeed the one to which I was referring. Thanks for saving me the trouble of digging it out.:TU: -- Steve
I took one of those mercury switched lamps out of an Olds and mounted it in the 75 Riviera. Pontiac had those as well: http://www.amesperf.com/
I have one I got when I bought a box of parts. Believe it is a mercury switch one. The ones posted above I believe are the PC ones as they have a mechanical switch ( I have never seen a 64-72 GM A-body car with that offered) due to the no mercury content? Anyways, I'm not going to use it so let me know if you are interested.
Yes please, I'm waiting for a pic and believe the one being offered to me is a switch type. I am still waiting to find out which type it is. The mercury light is the way to go. Pm me your details. Shipping to 08879. :3gears:
Carl I'd like to purchase yours, so I need your email/paypal id. Tim I'd like to get yours too. Thanks guys.:bglasses:
I would like an under hood light also. I like the idea of the retractable light. When I bought a new Chevy truck back in 91 it had one and it would reach to the back of the truck. Handy if your flashlight is dead and you have to change a tire. I would think you could make it look right, or not noticeable. That may have to be part of my upcoming under hood detail work.....
I had one from a mid 70's furd product in my 66 GMC. It had a nice long cable, but wasn't very bright.
Late 70's Cadillacs had them-my 78 Coupe deVille had it. I also had an 80 regal that had it--it would stay on if I parked the car on the steep part of our north GA driveway and kill the battery. Finally saw the light glowing after dark, shook the front end and it flickered. starting parking at an angle to keep it off. Good excuse to go junkyarding.
Standby. I need to repaint the mercury operated light. Ill post a picture of the retractable in a few. Cool light.
