My car currently has a hood mounted tach. Problem is, it doesn't work. I tried Postons but they are out of them and it will be about four weeks. Is there another source?

    Try Year One or thepartsplaceinc.com.

OPG for around 170. OPG is low cost but poor service. There is a repair place in Hemmings for your old one too.

    Hood Tach

Tachs aren't that hard to fix so before going out and buying a replacement I advise taking a closer look at the tach you already have.

If it is an original factory tach (hood or dash) the most common problems are a fried zener diode or the meter-portion isn't working (normally corroded). I can provide you with a schematic and some simple checks you can do if you are interested.
