I near totalled my 66 Skylark...

I smashed my 66 Skylark into a tree this evening at 9:55 at the corner of High and Rosedale in West Chester, PA. I turned left off of Rosedale onto N High Street... the ass came loose so when I pulled it back I over compensated and next thing I know I'm headon into a tree with no brakes and no chance to brace for impact.

The entire front end is gone, dead center on the front end went in about two and half feet and stopped at the waterpump on the motor. I had my seatbelt on but still managed to put my face into the steering wheel. I knocked my 4 front teeth loose, and have a massive contusion to my upper lip and jaw. I'm actually still spitting blood as I write this.

So as I sit back and see how great my life is, me being $7000 in credit card debt to the car already, have a pile of new parts to go in THIS WEEK, and now its gone to ****... ughhh. I mean, I seriously started crying over Joan. I'm trying to look on the bright side of things--an A-Body friend of mine, Matt, is working on tracking me down a front clip; he already knows someone who can pull the frame if needs be; and he has also offered all the steering, suspension and radiator support parts that I need.

Well thats my rant, it can only get better from here right?

Looks like one frame horn is bent (driversside), the steering column (column shift) is toast along with everything down there (the box looks ok). The inner fenders dont look too too bad, I can make the fenders work. The hood, hood latch, grill, headlight bezels, bumper, bumper supports, radiator support, radiator, and fan shroud are all toast!

I'm located in West Chester, PA (19382) if anyone has anything or everything for me... thanks!

    Re: Sorry to see that

Which time? The last time I ran Atco was Buicks vs. Fords back in March (best time was 14.92 @ 93 on the new motor) or were you talking about my shocking low-14 second run back in 2002?

You'll have to give me your email addy for next time... I'd love to roll out there with another Buford, not too many there representing.

wow, buicks were outnumbered almost 3 to 1 that day... pretty sure Buick's won the brackets tho.
I didn't run thinking my high 14second car would be too slow and unreliable for a dial in run (thinking that it was goin to be all sub-13 second bufords, turbos and 455's)...

Local yard here in FL has a clean 67 4dr. See parts for sale section titled as 67 Special/Skylark. Pics show the car. From your pics, looks like your car can be fixed.

I saw that... too far, and that rad support (I believe there was a pic of) didn't look any cleaner than what I've already come across. Thanks for mentioning tho!!!

GS452GS: Thanks for that email, I'll give it a shot... couldn't hurt to call

That sucks! Looks like she was a nice clean ride too.
Well at least she looks like she's fixible. Sure sad to see that pile of bent up parts! :( At least the healing process has begun. Speakin' of healin'...how's the lip and teeth?

I'm still a little swollen, but my teeth have settled and they haven't shifted too much :( So much for braces for 4 years...

The update on the car is, I've found an EXTREEMELY clean 66 Special that I just don't have the heart to part out. So I'm picking it up asap and throwing my fresh smallblock into it to make it my driver while I get my baby back together.

    I'll have pics soon... :bglasses:
