I wouldnt normally post something like this, but since I didnt get a response from the seller....... I just had to ....
most of you know of my on going search for the ever elusive '71-2 hunter green sport wheel.....
well ,in a matter of 3 weeks I have found 3 and been duped on 2........one seller made good on the wrong colored wheel and will remain nameless since since he's not a member here its pointless....
however, I was contacted by [member]bill tebow through the V8 email system several months back while he was trying sell his gs here....he said he had a nice green wheel and that should he sell his car would happily sell me the wheel, no price mentioned at that time..I emailed asking several times for a barmoter price range as not to waste each others time...responses were very untimely.....
well months pass and he sells the car and wants to finally sell me the wheel .. I get pics and the wheel looks pretty good definately hunter green,,though not the best pics, he seems honest enough so after he tells me he wants $250. [to end my search I agree]......I pay and I get the wheel .... the hub was changed out to black [not in the pics] the green horn cap glass was cracked [not in the pics] and soft trim on the cap is as hard as a rock as was the wheel which looked to be sanded on all over it....None OF WHICH WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION PRIOI TO THE SALE.....I emailed saying I wasnt happy with it and wouldnt have paid nearly half for the garbage I received,,, no response from bill.....so here we are.......
expensive lesson learned on my part .. so bill next time you decide to gouge a fellow member on a part you better be prepaired to answer a whole lot of questions if you sell him sh!t ...
again not my method of operation but enough time has passed for him to even offer to do something.... john

    Sorry to hear that!

    Hi John,
Sorry to hear of the troubles! Those Green Sport wheels are tough to find but that is no excuse for this kind of hit. We will all have to watch for Mr. Teebow unless he can redeem himself!

    That really SUCKS! :af:

Why the hell can't people be stand up. Why ship something that you yourself would most likely s***can anyway? :puzzled:

That really pisses me off. I too hope he can redeem himself because this is a small community with close knit people. If you can't trust the people here, then what? :spank:

Unfortunatetely just because some one is a board member dosen't mean they wont bend you over. Sorry to hear about this.

I feel in order to sell something, we all should register our name, address, and phone #'s with the moderator's so we can try to keep this board as legit as possible. There are too many good guys here to have it spoiled by one person. What do you guys think?

    I think that's a good suggestion.

V8Buick Seller registration #66 for example.

Moderators will hold special access to these details and will give them out in the event of a dispute to the interested parties.

    I vote yes.

Count me in as a third in support of some form of registration, I got BURNED doing a favor for a fellow V8 member who wanted a date coded part that I had. It wasn't as critical for me in this case, so I did the swap and received a broken POS for my efforts - $250.00 tanked as a result, thanks DH!

There should be some way to do an escrow sale or something to make transactions "safe". People come to this board because they think it can be trusted. Buick owners helping other Buick owners is the reason it lives. I for one have been ripped off 1 too many times recently and I'm "hell bent" on finding some way of bringing these sellers to the attention of others. We need some way of stopping these thieves . . . . . . .

    Thanks for letting me vent . . . . . . .:blast:

    I got ripped off

well being the victim of sorts here I do agree on many points made.....this is my first bad experience out of several hundred ebay, buick forum, and bca/gsca trasactions since 1983......I mainly agree on some form of registration to keep things open and honest, we do need to know with whom we are dealing.....
I emphatically disagree with escrowing money ...
my reasoning is this, one mans treasure is another mans junk and vice versa.....in doing this we would be creating a tire kickers atmosphere.... that is to say, as honest a description a seller could give, someone could still find flaw with or find a better item in the meantime midstream a transaction and come up with all kinds of reasons to back out.. bottom line here is know youre car and the parts that go on it...be honest and likely you will get the same treatment in return a vast majority of the time....
eventually we all will have a bad deal, this is my first for larger money....but after 20 years of buicking it doesnt even show up as a percentage...
I posted the sellers name here ONLY because he contacted me through this forums email and never answered my emails after the purchase...I know he sold his car prior to our deal and has like many newcomers found this "isnt as easy a hobby as he thought it would be",, so he/they jumped ship...
    keeping things simple is the only answer, ....I'm not making light of my own situation, but there is life after this green wheel..not anywhere near as nice as I was led to believe but still better than none at all ...["for now!!!!}
    best, john

  12. I certainly sympathize with anyone who has lost out to a bad seller thru the board, but... my initial feeling is that such a plan would be a lot of time and energy to ask of any volunteer moderator, if you want the info on a seller to be accurate and verified. Someone would need to maintain a database on their own computer, and to make the info worthwhile, would have to email the sellers to verify that they do reply, and also call their phone # to verify they are actually there and answer it.

Just my opinion, I know I don't have the time to tackle such a project. :Do No:
