I know what you mean, avc1966. I damage my radiator last week, and next week-end there's the only race of the year I can attend too..... I'll try to go there with my spare 2 core radiator (and pray...).
You still have some extremely interesting cars to play with... :Brow:

UPS is NOT the way to ship packages

Dan - that's UPS for you. That looks like the box that my NEW DELL computer cam in this past December :eek2:

Like you, luckily there was no damage...

David, Marco & all--- there was a piece of thin flexible foam padding, smaller in dimension than the grille itself (like what people wrap framed pictures etc. in several layers of) It was basically like a garnish, the grille was essentially rattling around in the box!!!! I did get lucky, but so I don't tempt fate I will probably paint it myself someday to avoid shipping it anywhere..........

I know you didn't pack these for distribution in the States, Olivier. I want you to know how much I appreciate the service you provided for the Buick community and to me. Thanks to you I have the most important (and one of the few I didn't have) piece my Stage 1 project needed............

Thanks for your kind words. A rare thing lately....
I do as much as I can, but I'm not a professional, I'm doing this just for fun and for being in contact with buick people in the states. :beer
Anyway I would appreciate if you can send me pictures of your projects.... I just love to scroll pictures of Gs's being restored... send to this adress : olivier.drisse@alcatel.fr
thanks! then I can show to the moulding company where there grills ends up.

Olivier, you have been nothing but helpful through this whole deal. You are a fellow Buick nut and have a nice GS too. Nobody should be giving you a hard time in any way shape or form.

Yes, my grille was cracked, as they say $hit happens. The lack of care in packaging bothers me and I will call the GSCA to see if I can get a replacement as UPS told me that's who I need to contact. I think it's a cop out on their part to blame the GSCA as it kind of like saying "You need to package things to withstand any amount of abuse we care to dish out" but zero protection is a little lame. If I can't get a replacment I'll fix this one and move on.

But I did want to say "thank you" to you one more time :TU:

    Brown is down!!

Hello, all, This goes out to all the people whom have had damaged grills.... Please write or send an email to GSCA and tell them to stop shiping UPS!!! There are three different shipping companys other then UPS!!! I had 4 speed console distroyed by them and my buddys steering column was ran over with a fork truck and he never saw a dime!!!! :af: :af: :moonu: :moonu: On the other hand I have shipped with USPS, FED-EX, and those guys in the yellow and red trucks that have been outstanding!!!! Fed-ex on average is about 20% cheaper on large items!! And I am sorry but GSCA should be doing something about there packageing... Maybe someone should give them feedback directly to there shipping department....So they know what is going on... :Smarty: Just a suggestion!! Randy... OH I was talking to a private company that investigates these claims.. UPS disclams all damage the first time.. They figure that you will get discouraged and stop your claim.. a little FYI>>> :Smarty:

    Repo grilles

Sparkplug, I agree with you. I've had much better results with FED EX and even USPS. Most deliveries I have received from UPS the cartons have been damaged. When UPS delivered my 70 repo grille, not only was the carton damaged but also the grille. Per UPS since the GSCA did not prepare the carton properly, no packaging materials enclosed, they were not responsible for the damage. To add insult to injury the GSCA did not insure the carton. I have a pending order for two 71 grilles from the GSCA and will notify them regarding my concerns about UPS , carton packaging and insurance before I pay the remaining balance.

I think that it   :Brow: goes back to big buisiness.. They forget about there customers after a while and are all about the money... They figure one or two hundred people a day that are pi$$ed off is nothing compared to the 250,000 packages they deliver a day.. I think it is time for people to remind them how important we can be!!! HINT HINT!!!

Does anyone know when the rest of the GSCA 70 grills are supposed to be here? I have tried calling the GSCA all this week in the morning, and it is always busy. Thanks Tony

Not to be a pesimist, but I was told I could pick it up at the nationals in May. :Dou: It is truly a cool thing the GSCA did by doing a repo on them, and I understand it is a huge task. Just wish I had mine by now, or we could have classified who needed one for a car, or who was putting them in their attic. Tony
