All this time we have been arguing with Ted and this (pic above) is all it took to knock him off the soap box . . .quick fellas, scour your local malls and gather up all of the hot tight T-shirt wearing girls you can, then we need them to infultrate Teddy's compound in Florida. The last time we used the ugly chick in Waco (Janet Reno), it didn't turn out so well. . . for them anyways. Lets try pretty ones this time, if not we'll just gas em and send in tanks:bla:

not to hijack....but today I got a parking ticket on the street in front of a store while I was in the store getting change to put in the meter.

Less than 1 minute...and I couldn't get the ticket voided.

Only thing I can do is appeal in front of a judge...taking at least a half day off from work just to appeal it.

First of all, the cop driving the car is responsible for anything that happens when he is driving hard. Second, sometimes you need to get to a call, and using lights and sirens would alert the bad guys that we are coming. I have gone fast with and without lights and sirens many times in my career. That does not by any means justify putting the general public at risk. I can say this, sometimes cops are responding to calls. There are some cops out there that have no business being cops, just like any other line of work.

once i was returning to Elkhart, IN from Indianapolis late at night, like 2am. headed up US-31 out in the middle of nowhere we were doing maybe 10mph over. we see headlights coming up behind us fast and my buddy slowed down a little, no point in making any other changes as the road is 4 lane divided even though it's not limited access.

5 Stateys go blowing past doing at least 20mph faster than we are ... and we were still over the speed limit. we see them pull of the road to the west a couple miles of from us. as we go cruising on by, we see what the emergency was: they were reporting to the Plymouth cop shop for donuts and coffee.

yes, i am well aware that anecdote /= evidence. and i will have to admit that by far the most polite cop i ever met was an Indiana State trooper who was writing me a ticket ... and i thanked him for his professional attitude.

but it is what it is.

Diego, once again, Damn dude! Where do you get this $hit?

can't you feel it? he's raising your consciousness.

cuz like, the thugs around here need their consciousness raised.

and i'm the one who "never learns".

I just finished a book called "1919" and the stuff they were doing in the US at that time would apall most sensible people today

    yeah, that's Woodrow Wilson.

he laid the groundwork for a lot of the things we complain about today. holding him up as "the way things used to be" is pretty much a non-starter. up until the 70s he was by far our most anti-Constitutional president.

Limits are not set by guess work.

well, there's something else Diego is right about.

speed limits often are completely arbitrary. remember the national 55mph speed limit? i think there are still a few states that have a maximum speed limit of 55mph, even on federal divided 4 lane restricted access highways.

i know it's not unusual to see low limits in MI and the north east.

You say "the system is wrong, it brought us Slavery"

actually wrong, slavery was pre-existing. it wasn't "brought" to us by our Constitutional system, it was grandfathered in. most of the Founding Fathers expected slavery to be a future fault line in the nation. that's not exactly a subtle distinction from what Diego said.

the fact remains that slavery has been practiced by almost all races and cultures throughout history. the only reason that it is "formally" banned ( slavery is still widely practiced in the sex trades and there are places in the world where the laws are ignored ) worldwide now is because of the emancipation drives of the Christians in England and the US.

The best two posts in this entire thread.

there are two more things i'd nominate for "best of thread" right there.

but posting the attached photos would get me punted from the board.

Scott, I have had a license since I was 15. I have been in that system for a long time and started really learning about all the Constitutional stuff right after 9/11 when Bush rammed the Patriot Act through and came up with his Nazi like "Homeland Security" system. I really saw a threat to the Constitution after that. I was aware of the Constitution and it's contents, but never really followed. As you should know, they don't teach crap about the Constitution and the real history of our nation in school anymore. The dumbing down of America at it's finest. I knew something was really phony with the "system" that everyone thinks so much of when in the mid 1980's, I learned that the Federal Reserve Bank was a private institution and took over control of a lot of government functions because of the Roosevelt government bankruptcy of 1933. And learned at the same time that the IRS is not part of the federal government, but part of that Federal Reserve Bank system. Back then I thought "Yeah, yeah, whatever" It was no big deal to me. By the late '90's, the internet offered up so much info and then 9/11 happened ,which really opened my eyes. Suddenly all of the stuff that many here call "conspiracy" really doesn't look like conspiracy that much anymore. Despite what many think here, I really don't eat all of it up since there is a lot of disinfo. I throw bones out to see what people's reactions are and then take note. Quite interesting sometimes. Beforehand, I never had a clue about the different jurisdictions of the Constitution and never understood the jurisdiction our laws in this country are under now, which all goes back to the Roosevelt bankruptcy and the Big Change in 1938. Everyday I understand a little more about the "system" and will use what I know against that "system" to protect myself if I ever get snagged in it. The basis of this nation was freedom and liberty. We have very little of that left anymore unless you know how to preserve it. And believe me,THEY don't want you to know anything about it. That's why I say KNOW RIGHTS,OR NO RIGHTS. I have beat the last 4 charges against me in court. I hope I don't ever have to go again, but you never know. It's easier to keep a license right now,but I may change that as I go along and especially if things get much worse and the system gets more abusive. Which it probably will. Human nature and nature of the Beast System. As long as we have the public official's Constitutional Oath of Office, I should be able to handle myself and crap they throw at the citizen. It's all about control over you and revenue for them.

How did you keep your license?

a - points enforcement used to be WAY more lax, especially before all of the state DMV's started to link up their databases. i think it will be interesting to hear when Michael racked these up. back in the early 70s, holding a dozen different drivers licenses was easy. have a couple of pieces of mail sent "to you" at a dummy address to "prove residency" and you could pretty much have a DL from every state in the union. use up the points on one DL and throw it away.

can't do that anymore, especially for a commercial driver.

b - if you've got money and a lawyer, you'd be surprised how far you can get. i knew a guy who from ~1985-1995 knew exactly how far he needed to ask the judge to push his next court case back so he'd drop points off of his record and wouldn't be forced to into a suspended license by statute. and he did that for 10 years, through several wrecks, uncountable moving violations and a couple of counts of theft.

plea bargains still work today and you don't even have to lawyer up for that. show up for your court appearance and it's not unusual for the prosecutor to meet with you before you go to court. just from the fact that you showed up, you can often plead down to a non-moving violation. i've done this once myself. of course, this depends on the violation, jurisdiction and particular prosecutor. you're still paying a fine, but now it's non-points and pretty much irrelevant to your record and the insurance company.

I hate to tell you, but you are wrong. Ticket "revenue" is not part of any budget requirements. If they happen, they happen, if we write none, so be it. If you are speaking from experience as a law enforcement officer, I would love for you to elaborate...if not, you should do your research. BTW, my "joke" was a common response that I, among others, give to violators who exclaim such idiotic things as "I hope I helped you meet your quota this month!".
