I have a 64 wildcat and i want to swap it with a 65 riv limited slip. But i must have a new ring and pinion in it because it has a 3.23 in it and i have now a 3.07 in it. I can't build the gears over from mine because they are a little bit noisy. The question is what kind of rear axle have i in it. I can't find it anywhere in the shop manual,so if anywone knows what it is please let me know.

    thanks

p.s: i had the l.s with the 3.23 allready in my car it makes to much rpm's when i drive around 100 mph.and that's daily

    Hullo there,
You have the 9 3/8" rear. Sounds like you want to put the 3.07 gears into the car with the existing limited slip carrier? I've heard they are hard to work on and parts are scarce. I've had them worked on-luckily parts were fine and were reused!

'63 '64 and '65 Big Buicks use this differential with the removeable center section. in '66 and up they changed the housing. The gears have the same part numbers in later years, but there are subtle differences from year to year so not all parts are interchangeable.

Thanks,i try to find someting and if i don't i build my own gears in it with the noise. I have the numbers of the ring and pinion but i never found anything on the net. The limited slip made a hard bang when i wanted to stop,it was just like the wheels hopped from the ground. So i must disassamble it anyway,i have 85w140 in it with 2 bottles l.s.fluid
