    Yep,
    Today I purchased a 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan 800 "A" model with 1090 miles on it, no I didn't leave off a 0, one thousand ninty miles, I got a smokin' deal on it too ($2850). Of course I need another bike like I need a hole in my head...but now I'll be selling my beloved 1978 Yamaha XS750 and using the Vulcan as my daily rider, it's strange, I just didn't think I'd buy a new(er) motorcycle but what ya gonna do!

    ~~~Edit...it's actually a 2002, I must have typed the wrong year in
    Two cool bikes. Both with a big fan base on yahoo groups. I actually make saddle bag guards for the Vulcan but the Vulcan 750.[just got done making a set for a guy tonight, gonna powdercoat them in a few mins]
    The 800 is a different breed. Though Id like to see a pic of it.
    at chopperunderground.com there is a guy who makes rear frame section to turn a XS in to a nice looking chopper bike.
    Looks like a "logical" new bike, get it???? Vulcan, logical. :laugh:
    They are a really nice bike, maybe even a little smoother than a Bonneville or a 500 Kaw......
    Adam.
    Adam,
    Yes, very logical indeed... :Brow:
    Yeah, it's a little smoother than the H1 or the Bonnie, rides better too, it's like all new and modern and stuff, it's going to take a bit of getting use to having a liquid cooled bike and one that does not have a kick starter on it either. I'll admit that it's one good riding bike, I've put about 200 miles on it now and am pleased with my purchase, what does disturb me is that now I'm riding the same thing as every one else(basicly) this bike doesn't have a tenth of the personality of the 78 XS750 it's "replacing", it has no soul per se.
    It's a good bike and I like it alot, and it will serve me well as my primary transportation plus it'll be fun to tinker with as well.
    Oh, and it won't be staying that colour for long, right now I'm thinking candy red!
    Here is a pic of the XS750 that I have to part with now
    Kurt, that XS didn't have much soul when it was new either, remember how many were around when they first came out? Everyone had an xs special in some form, I had the 650 twin. I have seen some pretty cool custom Vulcans
    Did you ever see the one that Denny Berg did for Cobra? I think it is on their website. Your bike has no soul because you haven't given some of yours to it (yet). :TU:
    Adam.
    At least you are keeping your Kawasaki h1. I am not a big fan of the yamaha xs bikes myself, but I can understand parting with a motorcycle that has given years of faithful service. That new kawi looks pretty good for a crusier, are you gonna break it in by scraping a pound off the footpegs at deals gap?
    GeeTo,
    I've actually got the H1 up for sale as well(I need the $$ to restore my Norton and my RD350) but I'll miss that one as well!
    Adam, I know I'll give the Vulcan a soul and personality...I have some plans for it :laugh: , as for the XS 650 twins, I have a 1972 XS2 that I'm putting back together too, man they are fun bikes. I just have to thin out the stable so I can get a bit more on track! I wasn't going to sell the H1 till I had another 2 stroke to replace it...thus the RD.
    The XS750 I'm selling has been gone through to the point that the parts that arn't new or rebuilt are the bottom end, the tranny and the clutch...figures, I get one finished and I sell it plus it was painted by Bob Meyers at Cycle Colors
    Blasphmey!, How about you keep the h1 and I'll take the norton off your hands (as if I haven't had enough punishment from Norton Villers in my life). That way you have the two strokers for the speed need and the vulcan for the cruise.
    BTW, I didn't see a posting of your h1 in the for sale section of the KTW site, is it up there yet? If I remember correctly from the deals gap pisc I have seen that H1 is super nice. Hey, they are your toys man you do what you want, but does this mean we'll lose ya over at KTW? I hope not.
    Blasphmey!
    Selling a H1 should be a crime.
    But I am also guilty.
    The last Kaw triple I had was a 750 set up for drag. Just had some mild 20 over jugs, some jet and expansion pipes and did a 9.5 1/4 easy. I drove it on the street with an old 500 title.
    I had a set of 80 over jugs n pistons but never had the balls. Of course after that bike is when I bought my Virago cruiser. 9sec in the open air is scary fun that is just to scary. Though id like to find a stock one some day.
    I had a 250, 350, 500 and 2 750s. But most of them were had before I even knew what I had.
    Vulcan 800
    Very nice Vulcan you got there. Lot's of potential in that Bike!
    Here are a few pictures of my Vulcan 800A for SportWagonGS.
    You might find the following websites helpful when it comes time to customizing your ride.
    CruiserCustomizing.com &
    Scootworks.com
    I am sure you won't regret your purchase. Mine is a 2001 with 35,000 miles on it. Runs strong like the day I bought it, well actually stronger with the Jet Kit I have installed.
    Happy Motoring and Biking.
    Hey Buick350X,
    If you ever want to get back into kawasaki triples, check out the message board at www.kawasakitriplesworldwide.com . There are some good people over there including sportwagon (known as the wolf). Just a suggestion in ase you ever feel the 2 stroke need for speed.
    even if I sell the H1 I'll stick around the KTW board, I'm not pushing real hard to sell it anyway, I built that one from the ground up and it sure is a hoot to ride!
