Hey guys. New to the forum. I just bought the Gold 72 Buick Riviera used in the movie Crank with Jason Statham. I bought it out of Tim Allen's garage in North Hollywood and it'll stay here with me in Hollywood. While it's with me i'm planning on doing some work on it to get it to the best it can be, so in advance i'd like to thank you all for your help! Jake
Congratulations! I don't know the movie, but if the car came from Tim Allen's Garage, it's probably a pretty good car. Movie history can sure help the value of a car down the road.
Here's the Crank movie trailer: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/h9DDIdaA7GA&hl=nl_NL&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/h9DDIdaA7GA&hl=nl_NL&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up paying for it? I rememebe the the eBay auction went up to about 12,600 but didn't sell cause it didn't meet the reserve which was around 14k. (the only reason i remember all this is i was the second palce bidder on that auction, lol) Beautiful car though. Congrats.
Congratulations and Welcome to v8buick Jake - nice snag on the evilBay ! :beer :beer Checkout the Riviera Owners Association (ROA) at www.rivowners.org :TU:
Are you in Los Angeles? Hey guys, if you're a 71-72 Riviera owner and in the Los Angeles area I'd love to meet up with you and talk shop/shoot the **** in order to gain some familiarity with other Riv owners and with my car. Feel free to post in this thread and maybe we can meet up. I'm also interested in going to some Riviera/Buick shows to check out other cars and gain some knowledge.
Re: Are you in Los Angeles? Well, next year you should come over to the Netherlands for the Riviera meeting. We have the most Boattails per square mile in the world :bglasses: !
Hmmm... Netherlands is tempting. I've actually been to amsterdam several times now and might consider that. I've just found some other photos of my car from when it was in the movie Big Stan and the TV show Life. In both of these the car had a brown top, though I have really no idea what happened between Crank and these two series to change the top color. This is the picture from the TV series Life: This is the picture from the movie Big Stan:
Jake, Did you sell a set of rims to a Dutch bloke the other week ? He picked them up at your place in Hollywood.
If you hurry you can probly sill get regestered for the ROA meet in Monteray comming up in June. Look at the ROA site for details www.rivowners.org Welcome to the site from Sunny N.Florida!
I've not seen that Movie. But, the plot projected in the trailer reeminds me of a 1950 Movie with Edmund O'Brien, titled D. O. A. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSA2ZJOichc Edit: Obrien's character drives a Studebaker conv. Not, a Buick.
