I ordered 2 inch drop for front an back. I have 14 inch wheels with P205 75 r14. They stand 25 inches high. From floor to edge of wheel well moulding I have 24 3/4 inch. On the front, same tires and wheels but 27 inches from floor to edge of wheel well moulding. Looks like crap. Car looked better before swap. I have a 300 CI no air...front spring actually were approx 2 inches shorter then stock but are not compressing. I am assuming I was sold springs for BIG BLOCK...dang!

I'm just getting ready to lower a 67 Beaumont for my nephew. It's a big block. Can you tell me what brand, part# etc you got? I don't want to run into the same problem.

    Thanks

    Carl,

Check out a couple of the other threads on suspension re lowering springs...these maybe the springs you need, looks like a small block chevy weight just about a much as a big block buick! I think that the end result is to deal with someone who is kowledgeable in that area. The guys i deal with try hard but they are generalist.

    I did not get a box...so no part number...sorry

you need to get hotchkis small block lowering springs i dont know what the springs you got are but they may be for a big block and thats why they are not compressing enough to lower the car,did you switch rears too?

    Thanks

I was EXTREMELY happy with my Hotchkis small block lowering springs on my '70, so I think maybe sell those as big block Chevelle springs and go with the Hotchkis, as George said.

Thanks for the assistance. I guess I will have to do some more homework. Sometimes the best way to do homework is to "cheat"---talk to someone else who's already done the assignment!!!

Well guys, thought I would update you. They gave me the wrong springs in the back (he claims that buick skylark had a mid year change from open top spring to pigtail/closed top spring)! They had a set of 2inch drops on the shelf with PIG TAILS at both ends, they will deliver them to me. As for the frts they are going to replace them. Their supplier was worried that the springs may be defective...was sending him 2 pairs as looks like I was not the only one to moan. And said he would make up the labour by giving me a hell of a deal on my next part orders. So I am somewhat happy.

Oh they deal with CPP Classic performance Products.

I cannot believe that I am having this conversation again. :Dou: :Dou: Looks like I will need to change my front coils 3 times!!!! The replacement for rear are fine, 23.5 inches from floor wheel well (these are 2 inch drop). The front...27 inches from floor to moulding :af: :af: !!!!! :af: I am going to tee off on these guys...the front springs are from Classic Performance Products... FCS6330D (6772 ms also on the box,,,numbers would rep year not sure what ms stands for) I went to their site...they do not have an option for small block. Oh and the front springs are a 1.5 inch drop...even if the fronts would have dropped to their 1.5 inches that would not give me a very attractive stance!! :spank: Yes, I know, get the hotchkins! Geez! :ball:

I've found that many spring manufacturers use the same part numbers as Moog....the 6330 number you mentioned is listed in the Moog catalog as fitting a 69-72 Chevelle with air conditioning. So it can be considered a stock, heavy-duty spring.
A reputable supplier should be able to look up the spring specs and find you a spring that will work well for you.

A 6310 might work well for you. It's a shorter spring, with a 328 lbs/inch rate, spec'd for a small block. Ask your supplier what they think of this one.

Do you have part numbers for the other springs they sent you?

    Thank Walt.

I can look on the box for something else but the only number I have saw was the one I posted. This suspension mod has been a bit of a challenge! I have taken a couple of different measurments. from under the frame rail to the floor at frt 8 inches. rear 7 inches. from just under the center cap of buick wheel to wheel well moulding front 16 7/8 rear 12 3/4. I have been in the car business for over 20 years. My Dad was a tech (actually teacher at trades school) and my brother is with Ford Canada (tech hot line etc...), so I know talent when I see it. Any guy who can look at a part number, know it is same for Moog and shoot specs from the hip as you just did has TALENT! What do you do? I will pass on your info to my parts place.I included the link for classic performance products.Where the springs came from.
    Thanks. :TU:
