What are you guys using for oil for you're conv. top motors? Is trans. fluid OK? Where do you fill it? Also how do you fill the lines up? Do you bleed the lines? Any inf. would be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks

I use type 'A' trans fluid for top pump systems. That is what the factory uses.

Thanks Junkman. I guess I will go to a chevy board to find out how to fill the lines.

You can ask any Chevy board member anything you like. Not a lot of people re-do their hydraulic system. Not many have convertibles to begin with. You're asking a question that a small percentage of a small percentage might know the answer to

It's not Buick folks not wanting to help, it's just a fact that this is an uncommon need

I can look in my chassis manual and see, but it might be in the body manual, I think

I have both and can look, but I have no first hand knowledge of how to do this

I always strongly recommend that all classic car owners get all the documentation and manuals for their cars that they can lay their hands on :TU:

I figure there were a ton more rag chevies made than Buicks. Someone might have the answer. Don't get me wrong. I am a Buick guy. Check the stats: 1 67 rag Skylark; 1 67 hardtop Skylark; 1 67Special (464Stg2) :Brow: Buick Engines: 1 231. 2 300s, 1 350, 3 430s, and an extra 455..... Anyway I filled the lines using an oil can filled with hyd. fluid. Didn't make to much of a mess. I had to drain them out though, as the glands on the hyd. cylinders leak hyd. fluid. Thanks for the reply. :)
