Somebody school me on the differences. Is the main shifter body the same for all applications? And the install kits are the difference? And why all the differences there? I don't see why the linkages would be different from one application to the next. I understand about the shifter handle differences for seat, console, and dash clearances.

    Somebody help me understand this.

Mainly for Muncie 4 spd setups.

    Thanks.

The shifter mech itself is basically the same. The mounting plates differ. So do the rods and levers depending on year and application. Westher its got a passenger side speedo or driver side. Corvettes run different levers in the shifter

    Hope this helps

The handle recievers are also different. Some are straight, some have bends on them depending on application. A console equipped 442 uses a different shifter mech from a non console car because the handle reciever is different

So...with that being said, which combination of Hurst parts would I need for an AutoGear case with M22z guts going into a 66 Skylark w/455 and a bench seat? No console.

The correct shifter for a 1966 Skylark W/WO console is 391-4726, but has been discontinued a long time ago.
The closest you are going to get is 391-7308 with install kit 373-3163.
I have a 391-4726 if you are interested.
