I Thought I'd share this with y'all, I know its in the middle of nowhere to most of you but.......
An elderly gal with 5 acres of mostly '50's-'70's cars jammed together in a field near Umapine Oregon, (NE part of the State, near Walla Walla Wa.) passed away recently and her family is apparently eager to start crushing....

There are two '68-9 2dr HT Skylarks, a '69 Sportwagon 400(drivetrains gone on all) wagon was a woodie w/ nice looking front clip, a '71 or 2 LeSabre, I believe I saw more than one '61 or 2 special/skylark.... I'm sure I'm forgetting more older Buicks....
saw quite a few late 50's-e.'60's chebbies & fords (quite a few early Falcons)... Studebakers, '59 caddy, '69 Grand Prix, '69 Tempest 2dr Post W/ NO options and straight (w/buick 350 :) ) '72 Cutlass supreme, red and complete, a '63 LeMans 2dr w/4 banger and the transaxle drivetrain.....NO F-bodies to speak of....SEVERAL Gremlins, though...

I know there is more.... the place has been essentially forgotten for a while, after being picked through somewhat.... quite a bit of good sheet metal, though and lots of little things....

I really don't have time to go back and look for anything for anyone (3 hours away) I'm just hoping someone might be close enough to swing by and save something...........

Oh, and a post-boattail Riviera near the entrance (not blocked like everything else) '74-6 I guess, complete w/ralleys.....

Happy Hunting for someone, I hope.......

    Dan,

How far is it from Walla Walla? My parents are going to be heading back to AZ and are going to stay at my aunt's house in Tri-cities for a couple days. They have a 62 Skylark convert.

Steve: Umapine is VERY close to Walla Walla, you simply drive south out of WallyWorld on hwy 11 a couple of miles into Oregon, then turn right where signs say to go for Umapine, 5 miles or so west of that turn. When they reach Umapine (VERY small town, basically a 4 way stop) ya go through the stop and take the next right in a mile or so at March road (gravel) and its just up the road on the right. There are at least two '61-'62s there, maybe more.

Kevin: I actually would love to save that Tempest, but I have a full plate right now (baby on the way, etc.) so I don't know.... its way in the back of the yard though, might take a while for it to disappear.... Its a neat car, STRAIGHT except the hood is bent from stiff hinges, It would make an excellent race car or sleeper... still has the gold painted plain rims on from its dog dish cap days......I'd probly keep the buick 350 and ebay the car to some poncho guy...........

    gs4u2c Is that a 442?

Is there a way to get ahold of them? I'd be interested in the 68-9's.

Tim: No phone that I know of, the gal passed away and her kids are basically cleaning off the property to sell it to adjascent farmers it sounds like and I don't know if they know what they have anyway.... one '68 2dr is VERY rusty (Michigan State U. sticker in back window)and the interior is gone (and the elec. kickdown sw/brkt  ) but the other '68 or 9 (can't remember) 2dr. is more complete and not so rusty but no motor, ditto for the Sportwagon, good sheetmetal on that one......

Sorry about no number---- if I find out more or happen to find time to go back (don't hold your breath) I'll try and get a # to post........

A friend told me someone walked around the property and painted DO NOT CRUSH on various cars without asking, making the grandson less than happy....

    Thanks Dan,

My parents head home from Tri-cities tomorrow, I think. I don't know if they'll have the chance to swing by.

Is it a wrecking yard, or just someone's property?

It is basically an inactive wrecking yard, surrounded by farmland and forgotten, really. I believe it hasn't been active since the elderly woman's husband passed away some time ago, she hadn't kept up a business license, but someone would show up and look around every once in a while and find something they could use.... I found out about it from word of mouth, car guys in the vicinity knew it was still here..... it really is like stepping in a time machine, I was amazed when I first went there.....

I really hope someone can find the time to grab something, worth the effort just to get some '68-'69 front fenders, at the very least (and '61-'62 for that matter.....)

Dan, this isn't the yard where you saw the car with the '70 Metallic Green interior was it?

Do you think March Road is the un-named dead end road on this map??

Tim: I'm impressed.... yes, that stub pointing north just east of that 583 is march road.... that "583"--- didn't know it was numbered--- leads you to/from Touchet (pronounced too-she) on Hwy 12, the east-west road to/from Walla Walla. You could take I-82 west from your neck of the woods and exit at Umatilla Or. and head east on 730 to where it intersects with hwy 12 near Wallula, then follow your map from Touchet to March road near Umapine......

I hope you can make the trip, Tim........:TU:

No Chris--- there aren't any '70-'72 Skylarks here, surprisingly (dissapointingly) I haven't had a chance to go back to that place lately..... I'll let you know the status of it when I can........

I am heading to Cle Elum this weekend to deliver a truck to my folks' house. Hopefully I'll be able to head down there Saturday or maybe Sunday if I spend the night.

  15. Address

I'll be passing through that country next week on vacation. Can I get an address or phone number so I can contact the owners? If it's on the way, I might stop by for a look. I have a 1971 Buick Centurion that could use a new rear bumper if they have one on the 71 LeSabre that is a substitute.

Tim--- did ya make it over there this weekend??????

:ball: RIP Tiny, you will be missed. When did she die? Is her son Dean around?

    gs4u2c Is that a 442?

No, I got hung up on the paint job. I still need to clearcoat it and whatnot and that truck will be ready to go to Cle Elum. I'm going to try to get over there but can't guarantee it.

Yep, thats her!!!! she was very friendly, liked to visit, always a smile and laugh the three times I visited the place, even though she was in and out of the hospital........ Not sure when she passed, within a month, it sounds like. I never met her son, she made it sound like he wasn't around much and those I've spoken to since her passing say her grandkids are cleaning up the place...... I sure wish I could get over that way again to get a phone number for everyone and get an update on the fate of all the 'ol machines........ I'll post if I do, of course........

Tim: I understand the busy schedule, hope you can take a look soon---- like I say, I'll try and get more info if I find half a chance to swing by..........

It was too far out of the way for my parents to swing by. They were on a tight schedule and had to head back to AZ. I think they were only looking for a few "spare parts" for my mom's 62 Skylark convert anyhow.
