    So it's a 1971 buick gs with a stage 1 oldsmobile 400? What's this guy talking about?? :Do No:

    I read something about this here on V8. It was something about a fire at the Buick plant resulting in them using W30 Olds trannys for a while. It is supposed to be correct. That's why I read this stuff. It is like being back at school again.

    They are referring to the transmission, not the engine.

    Early to mid model year 1971 automatic stage1 cars will likely have an 'OW' coded TH400, which was also used in the Oldsmobile W30s
