OK i have a few questions if you go to http://www.musclecarclub.com/musclecars/buick-riviera/buick-riviera-history.shtml you can see the performance of the 66 riviera I am wondering how they rate the 1/4 mile time, do they do it from a dead stop and just flooring it and as far as that and the HP rating is that just a bone stock model, any help would be great thanks
The 340 HP 425 was with a single 4 bbl., the 2 x 4 bbl. 425 had a rating of 360 HP This HP rating is a gross rating, with the SAE ratings we are using since 1972 this should be around 250 HP for that single 4 bbl. 425 engine. 1/4 mile times are from a standing start. Car Life magazine tested a Dual Quad 1966 Riviera GS: Standing 1/4 mile: 16.7 seconds Speed at end: 87 mph Motor Trend, with a single 4 bbl. Riviera: Standing 1/4 mile: 16.4 seconds Speed at end: 84 mph Cars magazine, with a Dual Quad Riviera GS: Standing 1/4 mile: 16.8 seconds Speed at end: 86 mph Car and Driver, with a Dual Quad Riviera GS: Standing 1/4 mile: 15.9 seconds Speed at end: 87 mph
I wouldn't expect any happy reception from that website.......it's run by a bunch of poncho's. I got into with them over there a few months ago b/c they consider a chebby Impala a musclecar but not a Wildcat or Riv gs. It's no surprise to me they didn't use the motor trend information. Stay off that site unless you enjoy getting achatu (spelling?.....that's italian for stomach ache p ) If you want some entertainment, check out the posts by rivgsmusclecar :Brow:
