I know there are many frame off resto threads but to anyone who has replaced a trunk floor did you replace it with the body on the frame or off? I was considering restoring the frame first then putting body back on and then having the trunk floor replaced so the frame mounts line up with the frame. IS this the correct proceedure? I will be farming this job out to a shop just trying to figure on the logistics for the best way to attack this. Also probably will have all body work performed with body back on frame to avoid flex. Any experienced opinions appreciated.

If you leave the pan rails on the body and just remove the floor...much easier with the frame out of the way. You won't have any flex since the qtr panels and wheel wells will prevent distortion.

Thanks George, do you like to use the three piece replacement or would a nice original floor that I had cut out of a junk car be a better option. Hate to spend the money on buying aftermarket when I hav a rust free original that could bee cut ot size but final fit and finish is most important. The original has the frame support rails intact.

You can use your existing "parts trunk floor"
It may be more work if the car you are working on now has good trunk rails.
There are more spot welds than you can count and they never seem to end.

I have used the 1-piece unit on the cars I have done since the ends were not rusted and the 1-piece saves quite a bit of welding and seam sealing.

The 1-piece from NPD is $89 and worked great for me.

If you have had to do the entire trunk...then you would need the 3 piece which NPD has for $250 w/trunk rails.

Thanks George, I guess will have to assess situation on condition of everything when it comes apart.
