I've got a set of aluminium 2 piece weld racing wheels from the 70's. Anything special I need to tell the shop mounting the tires? Any issues or problems? o No: - Bill
Bill, I have a set of "older" Centerlines that are 3 1/2 x 15 that I was going to use on one of my cars. They sound similar to the ones you are describing. They have a circle of bolts that hold them together. When I bought them a few years ago, they kept going flat over a period of time.I found out that on the inner part of the rim where the 2 pcs go together that there was a bead of clear silicone that was over the seam.Seems the silicone was leaking around it letting the air escape.I took the tires back off and used a small amount of new silicone over the seam and haven't had a problem since.I ran them on my 70 GS for awhile and had no problems since.I just took them off of my car recently and they still are pumped up yet.I did this to mine in 96 and they still have the same air in them today.
