How to measure for new rear wheels and tires?

I'm ready to order new wheels and tires for my 70 Riv. I modified the rear fenders to get rid of the fenderskirts by welding in the fender lips from a 1970 Apollo/Nova. In doing that mod, I gained another inch or so that can be filled with tire. I relocated the rear shock mounting location on the axle bracket, trimmed the excess metal from the bracket, and gained at least another inch of wheel/tire clearance on the inboard side. I'd like to fill the rear fenderwells with rubber for that steamroller look. I'm not too concerned with speedo accuracy. The engine is relatively stout (~450hp) and it's mated to a SP TH400 w/4000rpm stall and a 3.42 posi rear. I'd prefer a taller tire rather than my big boat looking like it's on roller skates:) At 2+ tons, it's never going to dip into the 10's so beauty is as important as hitting the right rpm at the end of the 1/4 mile.

Given all the above information, what is the best way to measure the fenderwell and backspacing for a "custom" configuration? If I need to take a few measurements and post the results to assist the process, no problem. Thanks!
