I want to build a continental kit for my 57 Olds, I know it isnt a Buick, but since I am a member of this great board and I cant find any active Oldsmobile forums to ask for help.
I am going to move rear bumper backwards and extend the frame.
Is there anybody on this board who has built one?
I am wondering about how to make the tilt mechanism for the wheel.
Is there anybody who has pictures?
I will appreciate any info and help about this. :)

These are already available in kit form - not sure of the company name, prices or applications. Most of the '50s and '60s cars !
Try a Google search - if I find additional info I will post it Per ! :TU:

    Hi
I know continental enterprises in Kelowna BC Canada have them, but I will try to make one.http://www.continentalkit.com/
The thing I really need is the chrome tire ring and the round plate that covers the wheel.
The other things shouldnt be that difficult to make and much cheaper. :)

You might be able to buy a chrome ring and a flat disc to cover the tire from a parts/accessory store that sells van/truck stuff. Vans, Jeeps, other smaller sport ute. vehicles often carry the spare tires externally.

    Hi Dual Quad
I will check it out when I arrive in FL in November.
I will also go to Turkey Rod Run in Daytona, so maybe I will find something there.
Do you have any pictures of your cars?

    Hi Arne,

I have not any pictures of the 54 yet. I can look to dig out some of the 55 but will need to figure out how to get them on the computer.
Maybe over the weekend if I have time, I can work on that.

Many RV/motorhomes use a cover and a chrome ring for the spare mounted on the back. Try an RV supplier like camping World, or even a RV wrecking yard.

    Hi
I have been thinking about that
Maybe its best from a van, since the tire on the Oldsmobile is 14 and I dont want the chrome ring/case to be too big either.
And I can maybe use a tire bracket that is hinged, the ones that are on some vehicles that you can swing away.
If I cut of a bracket like that, I could modify it and mount it vertical.
    Hopefully my English is understandable.
Its a big difference between speaking it than to write it. ( I can not use my hands when I try too explain something.)

    building a continetal kit.

I was looking at the picture of the Olds ragtop you posted. I think if you take a stainless ring around the tire, a flat van type cover for the side of the tire and wheel then cut out the center and mount a matching or cool hubcap like the one pictured, you will avoid the flat look and have a matching setup for the rest of your car.

I have a couple of pictures of the Buick but need to figure out how to post them.
